The genus Dudleya, family Crassulaceae, comprises 45 species of succulent plants native to southwestern North America. Some species are: Dudleya albiflora, Dudleya lanceolata, Dudleya pulverulenta, Dudleya blochmaniae, Dudleya greenei. Common name: White-Flower Liveforever. Scientific synonyms: Echeveria albiflora, Cotyledon albiflora and Dudleya moranii. This species is native to the Baja California peninsula, Mexico. They are succulent plants that form groups of rosettes that reach 20 cm (7.87") in height and more than 30 cm (11.8") when they flower. The fleshy, finger-shaped (pointed) leaves are greyish-green or silvery-grey with reddish hues if it gets a lot of sun. They produce star-shaped white flowers that appear in long inflorescences above the leaves. They bloom in spring. White-Flower Liveforever is used in rockeries, borders and pots for patios, terraces, balconies and windows. It's ideal for Mediterranean coastal gardens. Dudleya albiflora needs a sun exposure and a warm and dry climate. Withstands light frost if the substrate is dry. The soil can be a commercial substrate for cacti and succulent plants with 20% coarse sand to improve drainage. Echeveria albiflora is a very drought resistant plant that needs moderate watering waiting for the substrate to dry completely. Dudleya moranii does not need fertilizer. Prune wilted inflorescences. Dudleya albiflora is a plant resistant to the usual pests and diseases but sensitive to excess moisture. Cotyledon albiflora is propagated from seeds sown in spring and by cuttings. |
