The genus Jasminum, family Oleaceae, comprises 200 species of shrubs and climbing plants native to Eurasia. Some species are: Jasminum humile, Jasminum mesnyi, Jasminum officinale, Jasminum odoratissimum, Jasminum nitidumJasminum polyanthum, Jasminum nudiflorum.

Common names: Yellow jasmine, Italian jasmine. This species is native to Central Asia and China.

They are highly branched climbing shrubs that reach 4 meters (13.12 feet) in height and 3 meters (9.84 feet) in width. They have glossy dark green evergreen leaves, alternate arrangement and divided into odd-numbered leaflets. The attractive, fragrant flowers are star-shaped and dark yellow in color. They bloom from late spring to mid-summer.

These climbing plants need supports to climb; They are used to cover pergolas, fences and walls, to form hedges and in pots for terraces, patios and balconies. The flowers are used in perfumery and cosmetics.

The Jasminum humile prefers full sun exposure; in semi-shade it produces fewer flowers. They resist frost down to -10 ºC (14 ºF).

The soil must be well drained and contain organic matter.

Water regularly, waiting for the substrate to be almost dry.

Fertilize every 30 days with mineral fertilizer during spring and summer.

Prune intensively after flowering to promote the next flowering.

They are resistant plants to the usual pests and diseases.

They propagate by cuttings in late summer.
