The genus Podranea, family Bignoniaceae, comprises 2 species: Podranea ricasoliana and Podranea brycei.

Common names: Pink trumpet vine, Port St Johns creeper, Port St Johns klimop. This species is native to South Africa.

They are fast-growing climbing shrubs that reach 10 meters (32.8 feet) in height. They have opposite leaves, dark green in color and slightly serrated on the margin. The showy trumpet-shaped flowers are pink. Blooms in abundance during the summer and fall.

They are used to cover walls, fences, pergolas or to climb around a tree; They need supports to climb.

Podranea ricasoliana can grow in full sun or semi-shade exposures. They do not resist temperatures lower than 5 ºC (41 ºF).

They can grow in any type of soil that contains organic matter and drains well.

Water regularly waiting until the substrate is almost dry; decrease watering in winter.

They only need pruning every 3 years and it's done at the end of the flowering period.

Fertilize in the fall with compost.

They are plants resistant to pests and diseases.
