The genus Podranea, family Bignoniaceae, comprises 2 species: Podranea ricasoliana and Podranea brycei. Common names: Pink trumpet vine, Port St Johns creeper, Port St Johns klimop. This species is native to South Africa. They are fast-growing climbing shrubs that reach 10 meters (32.8 feet) in height. They have opposite leaves, dark green in color and slightly serrated on the margin. The showy trumpet-shaped flowers are pink. Blooms in abundance during the summer and fall. Pink trumpet vine is used to cover walls, fences, pergolas or to climb around a tree; It needs supports to climb. Podranea ricasoliana can grow in full sun or semi-shade exposures. It does not resist temperatures lower than 5 ºC (41 ºF). Port St Johns creeper can grow in any type of soil that contains organic matter and drains well.
