Cupressus forbesii is an evergreen tree with a rounded shape that usually branches from the base and reaches 10 meters (32.8 feet) in height. The small scaly leaves are bright green. At the end of winter the cones appear, brown or grey.

Tecate cypress is used as isolated specimens, to form barriers and on dry and sunny slopes. It's ideal for Mediterranean coastal gardens.

Forbe's cypress grows in any type of soil that has good drainage. It is planted in the final location in early spring.

Tecate cypress is a drought-resistant tree that needs moderate watering, waiting for the substrate to dry completely.

Cupressus forbesii does not need fertilizer.

Pruning is not necessary but dry branches can be removed at the end of winter.

This plant is resistant to the usual pests and diseases.

Cupressus forbesii propagates from seeds sown in a seedbed in late winter or spring.
